Retail Workers in Australia get $40AUD/hour on Sunday

The current statement reflects what I've been thinking for awhile - the economics of employee wage costs in Australia are beyond ridiculous;

Independent senator Nick Xenophon yesterday announced that he would introduce a bill to introduce an exemption from penalty rates in the Fair Work Act for small businesses.  "When employees are telling you they are happy being paid A$25 an hour on Sunday, because they will get work, rather than a penalty rate of A$40 but the restaurant is closed, well something is fundamentally wrong and needs fixing," the senator said.  Federal Employment and Workplace Relations Minister Bill Shorten said he would not back any move that produced a "reduction in wages for low-paid workers".
